Our glamping site is situated in a private gully nestled into the hillside, looking directly onto hundreds of acres of natural bush. We chose this site for its privacy and seclusion. Our livestock graze in adjacent paddocks and there is a dam with eels that attracts a lot of native birdlife.
We are in the process of undertaking a big landscaping project to give even more privacy between the safari and the bell tents and we have taken care with the placement so that each has its own special view.
The site is accessible by 4WD or by a walking track. We can transport you to the site if necessary or provide a farm vehicle for your use. The site is about 150 metres away from the main house.
Luxury Canvas Safari and Bell Tents
We have two tents: a large canvas safari named Friesian and a large bell tent called Angus. Our luxury glamping tents were imported from Holland and offer the best quality and fire retardant properties.
We named our tents after cattle breeds. The biggest tent (almost 76sqm under cover) is called Friesian as we farm Friesians. They are the black and white cattle. Our 5 metre tents is called Angus, long-standing cattle breed in New Zealand.
Our luxury Friesian safari tent
Our luxury Friesian safari tent sleeps between 2 and 6 and is fully self-contained. it has its own kitchen on the outdoor deck, its own private ensuite toilet and shower, which is accessed from the two rear bedrooms, and its own outdoor bath. It has one queen sized bed, two king singles and a double closet bed.
The lights are solar and battery powered, there is no electricity at the site. You will need to bring battery packs to support your electronic devices - or to get the best experience, you can simply unplug ! The toilets are flushing but also composting thanks to a family of tiger worms that love solid waste and compost.
We have recently added a small campfire stove on the deck too so that you can stay warm for winter glamping, toast marshmallows and make S'mores. There are some outdoor blankets and hot water bottles to make you comfortable.
We supply condiments, tea, coffee, milk, breakfast cereal and local farm eggs.
Our luxury Angus bell tent is perfect for two. It has its own camp kitchen and external bathroom. Same as Friesan, there is no electricity on the site. The lights are solar and battery powered.
We have recently added a frontier stove on the deck outside right in front of the Angus bell for those cooler nights. We also provide blankets and hot watter bottles.
Of course, Friesian and Angus could all be booked together to cater for larger families and groups travelling together. Do no hesitate to send us an email if you have questions.
Farm Tours, Hand Reared Petting Animals and Bush Walks....
As intergenerational farmers, we love to share our love of New Zealand farming with our visitors. We mainly farm poultry, beef cattle and some sheep and are surrounded by other farms including dairy and produce. We are happy to take you on a farm tour or you can pet and feed our goat, sheep, or our donkey. We have acres of bush for you to tramp in. There is a very picturesque walk down to the Waikato river from our farm.
